Groundbreaking for Vien Noi Service Project

On Tuesday, Concordia staff, parents, and students met with government officials and community leaders of the Vien Noi commune of Dong Anh district to celebrate the groundbreaking of the soccer field for their community center.

In tribute to our 2020-2021 theme, Love Boldly, the Vien Noi project serves Concordia’s neighbors by providing funds and services to renovate the commune’s community center. The overgrown grass field will be replaced with a 60m x 50m artificial turf field containing two competition soccer fields, netting, and lighting for night-time use.

“Concordia Hanoi is excited to build community through serving and learning from our neighbors in the Vien Noi commune," says HS Principal Dr. Sutherland, who attended the ceremony.

“We are ecstatic to participate in this project as it is a good opportunity for us to give back to our community by contributing our individual skills,” said students Linh (G11) and Mirae (G11) in their speech during the ceremony. “As students of Concordia International School Hanoi, we value being service-minded and engaging with our neighbors in the local community.

“Vien Noi commune is located quite near to Concordia, and we feel that this is a great chance for us to begin engaging more with our local community. We hope that when the soccer field is finished, Concordia can further provide for the community, from intramural soccer games to giving English classes and other green projects.”

The renovated field will serve the community of almost 3,500 people in Vien Noi, in addition to the six surrounding villages that will benefit from the usable space.
