Here at Concordia International School Hanoi, we believe in the power of service and giving back. That's why we were so incredibly proud of our Elementary School students who participated in the SympaKids After School Activity (ASA) group! This amazing group dedicated their time and energy to supporting SympaMeals, an organization that provides much-needed support to rural Vietnamese families who are battling cancer diagnoses. SympaMeals supports these families by delivering food and nutritional supplies, as well as providing support to keep their children in school.
Over the course of the ASA, our students learned about the importance of service and how they could make a real difference in the lives of others. They worked hard to collect essential goods and supplies for the families supported by SympaMeals. But the best part? The ASA culminated in a heartwarming event where the recipients of that support came to our campus to connect and build relationships with our students.
It was a day filled with joy, laughter, and connection. Our students planned and led a variety of activities, including:
- Musical activities
- Games and athletics
- Recess time fun
- Creative art activities
- Engaging math and STEM activities
- Shared mealtime
- And, of course, the distribution of the collected items!
The impact of this event was truly felt by everyone involved. Mike Mills, Grade 5 teacher and advisor for the SympaKids ASA shared, “The leader of the SympaKids group shared with me how grateful she was—not only for the warm welcome and meaningful gifts—but also for the joy and compassion (our students) brought.”
This event truly showcased the kindness and dedication of our students. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of service, empathy, and building connections within our community and beyond. We are incredibly proud of our Elementary Schoolers for their hard work and for making a tangible difference in the lives of others.
Mr. Mills shared his appreciation, speaking directly to our students, “You were the very first group to lead this event, and you’ve done so with grace, leadership, and heart. I could not be prouder of each of you for what you’ve accomplished and the way you’ve represented our school.”
This experience is a shining example of what it means to live out Concordia International School Hanoi’s Expected Student Learning Results (ESLRs). Our ESLRs offer a framework that we use to both structure our educational programs and define how our students will be changed over the course of their time at Concordia Hanoi.
