Concordia International School Hanoi recently welcomed over 60 distinguished colleges and universities from around the globe for its much-anticipated Concordia World University Fair (CWUF). Organized in partnership with Renaissance International School in Ho Chi Minh City, this year’s event provided students and families a rare chance to connect directly with university admissions representatives and explore a wide range of academic opportunities from around the globe.
The CWUF 2025 event showcased institutions from the United States, Canada, Australia, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam, showing Concordia’s dedication to cultivating a truly international learning environment. Attendees were able to compare programs and gain valuable insights into application procedures and scholarship options. Prestigious universities from around the world, such as Johns Hopkins University, the University of Chicago, UC Berkeley, the University of Toronto, the University of British Columbia, the University of Sydney, the University of Melbourne, and Hong Kong University, were among the notable participants.
“I felt that the fair really helped improve my communication skills and made me more confident when talking to university representatives, even if a particular school wasn’t my top choice for the future. I also appreciated the wide variety of colleges that were represented and thought the overall quality of the event was excellent.” Callum (G10)
Drawing over 200 attendees—including students and families from schools across Hanoi like United Nations International School (UNIS), The Dewey Schools, Delta Global International School, and Hanoi Amsterdam High School—the fair buzzed with lively discussions and discovery. University representatives answered questions on academic offerings, campus life, and career prospects, equipping students with the knowledge to make informed decisions about their futures.
The event was especially beneficial for high school students in Grades 10-11, who are beginning to explore their higher education options. For Grade 10 students, the fair provided an early look at the opportunities available at different colleges, while Grade 11 students used the event to prepare for the application process, which begins over the summer and continues into the start of the new school year in August. The students expressed interest in a broad spectrum of majors, including medicine, business, law, aviation, computer science, statistics, and education.
“I learned a lot about different university systems—I had been considering the U.S., but at the fair I was able to speak with representatives from Canada and Asia as well. It was my first time getting to know how colleges work in those countries. I also visited reps from three schools on my list and was able to ask specific questions about my major, including things that aren’t on their websites or more personal topics like what the dorm experience is like.” - Leah (G11)
Concordia’s Grade 12 seniors, many already admitted to universities, acted as student ambassadors, guiding visitors throughout the event. Some seniors had the unique opportunity to meet admissions officers from their chosen universities, gaining direct answers to specific questions. For example, senior Nhi, who will attend the University of Chicago, benefited firsthand from the opportunity to chat with a college representative from the University of Chicago about her upcoming transition and future university destination.
“I spoke with the University of Chicago representative and asked her about the course selection process; she provided me with a lot of helpful information about how it works, as well as details about the dorms for next year. She also explained when I’ll be connected with my academic advisor, which was really useful. On top of that, she recommended some fun places to check out around campus, which was exciting.” - Nhi (G12)
Beyond student engagement, the Concordia World University Fair strengthened ties between university admissions officers and the Concordia community. Hosting such a premier event highlights the value universities place on their partnership with Concordia and the school’s ability to facilitate meaningful, large-scale engagement. By opening the fair to the wider local community, Concordia extended these opportunities to students from other schools, fostering a collegial atmosphere rich in information and support.
“The fair helped me not only explore academic programs but also get a genuine feel for student life and the dorm experience—something that’s hard to grasp from just websites.” - Kate (G11)
Collaboration with Renaissance International School in Saigon further enhanced the fair, enabling both high schools to attract an even broader range of universities from abroad for this college fair series in the two largest Vietnamese cities, offering a more comprehensive experience. This partnership underscores the importance of working together to expand educational access and resources for students throughout Vietnam. The fair’s success comes at a critical time as many Concordia students finalize their academic plans, with several seniors already matriculating to prestigious institutions in the U.S. and beyond. Events like the Concordia World University Fair are central to Concordia’s mission to prepare students for global citizenship and academic excellence at university.
Ultimately, the fair stands as a testament to Concordia Hanoi’s commitment to connecting students with global opportunities and empowering them to pursue their academic ambitions. The enthusiastic participation of universities, students, and families not only broadens horizons but also reinforces Concordia’s reputation as a leader in international education in Vietnam.
