The Thunder Bolt
Every year, Concordia International School Hanoi hosts our community Fall BBQ. During this event, all Concordia families are welcomed to enjoy food, games, and each other's company. This event has become “the family” event to come to each year. This gives the students, parents, and staff the opportunity to come together and just enjoy each other.

The festivities take place on our field where families and students of all ages can compete in classic games such as cornhole, three-legged races, basketball shoot-outs, and the popular watermelon eating contest. In addition to this, we always have a bouncy house and a clown for entertainment that makes balloon animals and cotton candy. It is always fun watching the kids race around while parents get to relax and watch from the sidelines.

A Fall BBQ wouldn’t be complete without great food. While Concordia provides the burgers and sausages, our PSO dads are always willing to take the grill. Thanks to the hard work of our Parent Support Organization (PSO), everyone is treated to freshly grilled sausages and burgers. Families are encouraged to bring side dishes, snacks, and desserts - making our Fall BBQ complete with different food options.

Another special part of this event is that our High School students set up booths for their various service projects. Here at Concordia, we have over 30 service projects that our students lead that benefit the greater Hanoi community. These booths are set up during the event so our families and younger students can learn more about what kinds of causes our High School students support. These displays allow everyone to learn more about initiatives led by our upperclassmen and they offer a unique chance for our families to support causes that matter to our student leaders. It’s a wonderful way for younger students and families to see service in action and deepen connections across grade levels.

The Fall BBQ is truly about gratitude and celebrating our wonderful community. Thank you to our parent volunteers for providing food and treats, working tirelessly behind a hot grill, and making our school community so special. Whether you’re aiming for a prize in the watermelon eating contest, introducing your little ones to new games, or simply relaxing with friends old and new, there’s a place (and a plate!) for everyone at the Concordia Hanoi Fall BBQ.
