Ms. Sharpe was born in Germany but spent most of her childhood in Huntsville, Alabama. Her father was a Chaplain in the army and her mother is a social worker. Her mother and father instilled the importance of travel and learning about other cultures at an early age-traveling throughout the USA, Europe and the Middle East. She is a graduate from the University of Montevallo in Alabama. She has two Bachelor of Art degrees from Montevallo, with majors in English and Speech Communication and a minor in journalism. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 2004 with a Master of Arts in Education. She spent her first five and a half years of teaching at a title I school in St. Petersburg, Florida before moving to Abu Dhabi, UAE.
While teaching in Florida she was fortunate enough to participate in a teacher exchange and teach in Japan for a summer, which sparked her interest in international teaching. Ms. Sharpe has spent the past four and a half years teaching kindergarten in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, UAE. Prior to becoming a teacher, Ms. Sharpe was the Sports Information Director at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL.
