Hazel was born and grew up in the UK where she received her B.Sc. and Post Graduate Certificate of Education (P.G.C.E.). She immigrated to Canada with her husband and there they had four sons. When their boys were older she taught in the public elementary school system in Ontario as a classroom teacher, teaching various grade levels. She was an elementary mathematics specialist and team leader in her school. Hazel has a love of learning and was continually seeking to keep up to date by enrolling in courses and participating in professional development whenever possible.
When their family had grown, Hazel and her husband moved to Asia. She taught English as an Additional Language (EAL) in an international school in Singapore before moving to Hanoi, Vietnam.
Hazel has now completed her M.Ed. specializing in Teaching English as Another Language (TEAL). She endeavors to pass on her love of learning to her students. She finds teaching English internationally very rewarding and enjoys building relationships with her students, encouraging them to speak English as much as possible, both inside and outside the classroom.
In her spare time Hazel enjoys reading biographies, cooking international cuisine, listening to classical and sacred music and traveling. She usually tries to spend her winter and summer holidays in Canada with her growing family.
