Cristal Ritzema has been a Registered Nurse, California Board, for 26 years. She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in Psychology from the University of California, Davis and Nursing from the University of San Francisco, and is working toward her Master’s Degree in Public Health - Health Promotion through Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA (USA).
“Interacting with the students provides a daily dose of fun and satisfaction,” said Mrs. Ritzema on what she likes best about working at Concordia.
Prior to joining Concordia, Mrs. Ritzema’s extensive nursing career includes numerous professional positions including Trauma RN; ICU/CCU RN in San Francisco (CA) General Hospital; Neuro/Trauma ICU RN at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA; CU RN, Occupational Health Clinic RN at St. Luke Hospital in Pasadena, CA (I); ICU RN/PACU RN, Endoscopy/Procedural/Sedation RN, Outpatient Surgery Center Recovery RN at Sutter Davis Hospital, as well as Refugee Medical Transport Nurse Roster with the International Office of Migration.
Mrs. Ritzema has consistently devoted her nursing skills to helping those less fortunate. She has served abroad with Salvation Army Summer Service Corps for the Blind and Handicapped in Kenya and Tanzania; as well as at home with the Salvation Army Golden State Division Flood Relief Team, Modesto Corps, in California, USA. While in Vietnam, Mrs. Ritzema has devoted time to assist Hagar International, Vietnam as a Volunteer Community Health Consultant/Educator.
“My husband Randall and I have five wonderful children, all of whom attend Concordia, with our eldest being a member of Concordia’s first graduating class in June 2017. Before moving to Hanoi, we lived in California (USA), Luang Prabang (Laos), and Addis Ababa (Ethiopia). I’m fortunate to have had many opportunities to practice global public and community health nursing while living in these developing countries.”
Mrs. Ritzema’s hobbies include cooking, baking and adventuring with her family.
