Congratulations Class of 2018!

On June 1st, our Concordia community celebrated and commenced our second graduating class, consisting of nine seniors and two honorary graduates. Amongst the speakers for this commencement ceremony were Mikayla as the elected student representative, Stephen Conroy for the commencement address, and Dr. Sharon Voss, who provided the blessing for the students. We are excited to see where these student’s dreams take them in the coming years. Congratulations Class of 2018!

Among the 11 of us sitting here before you, there are potential scientists, politicians, actors, economists, teachers, businessmen, architects, astronauts. Each one of us has a dream, something we are aspiring for… Today, for us, it’s just the end of the beginning. There’s a whole world waiting for us outside these walls and, as we stand on the edge of that cliff preparing to jump into the unknown, let your hopes and your dreams be your wings.

— Mikayla, excerpt from Senior Reflection speech

Community Focus- Mr. Khoan

Ever wonder how Concordia’s landscaping stays so clean and green? Well, it is thanks to the hard work and dedication of Head Landscaper, Mr. Khoan.

A lifelong native of Tho Da commune, directly behind the campus, Mr. Khoan worked for Van Tri Golf Course for 11 years before joining Concordia two years ago.

“I feel a sense of duty to keeping Concordia looking nice, as I feel it’s an extension of my home town,” said Khoan, who even keeps a picture of Concordia on his wall at home. Take a moment to appreciate his work the next time you’re on campus.

Alumni Update

During the Christmas break, Concordia hosted our first Concordia Alumni Gathering, and invited our current seniors to get together in Hanoi at the home of the Head of School.

Fifteen current and former students connected to reminisce about the past and talk about the joys and challenges of going away to university.

Most of the Concordia graduates expressed they felt very prepared for their academic classes. The biggest surprise was how cold the weather is, especially for those who chose schools in the northern United States and Canada.

Concordia will continue to host opportunities for our alumni to connect in the future, and will continue to report on their achievements.  If you ever studied, worked, or were connected to the Concordia Hanoi family in some way and no longer are at Concordia, make sure to join our Concordia Hanoi Alumni Facebook group here
